I want to be able to seamlessly work from my home and office computers and have the files/desktops in synch. Is this POSSIBLE?

It's possible if both are logged in to the Same Apple ID and you have the Desktop & Documents option in iCloud Settings turned on.

While it is technically possible to do this, you should be extremely cautious about mixing work with home (personal) uses. Ideally you should not use the same computer for both. If that's not possible you should at least set up a seaparate user account on your home Mac for your work purposes and use that account exclusively for work.
You should also check with your employer's IT department about their Terms of Use that may apply to either you as an employee and/or any computer you use for work purposes.
