I was running an older model Synology Diskstation with its last DSM 5 update. It was sharing its storage content to Windows and Macs on my LAN without any connectivity issues or lag in accessing that share. This worked just fine on my Sonoma 14.* implementations of macOS without any connectivity issues or lag. This was used with Intel (2020 iMac) and Apple Silicon Macs (M1 mini and M2 Mini Pro).
Last year, while still running Sonoma on two Macs, I purchased a new Synology DiskStation running DSM 7.1, migrated storage from the old Synology to larger drives, and shared the same content. This also worked identically to the older Synology Diskstation with Sonoma, and now Sequoia on an M4 Mac Mini Pro and M1 MacBook Pro.
The Synology DSM 7.1 Control Center is configured to share SMB 2 or 3 with Windows 10/11, and AppleShare over TCP/IP with Macs. This is a Gigabit LAN for Ethernet-connected devices and Wi-Fi 6 for wireless clients.
I think your issue is in the configuration of the Synology and upgrading to a Mac Studio should make no difference in resolving the current problem(s).
