iTunes has a find duplicates option in the file menu. It works when looking at my music on my Windows’s 11 PC, but greyed out when looking on my iPhone. Why is this? I’d like to delete some duplicates I have.

See Duplicate songs in iTunes - Apple Community for general advice. For whatever reason Apple don't support all functions on a connected device. If you sync with a selection of content from your library all housekeeping is done in the computer, then you connect the device and sync to update it.
