iOS 18.3 causing freeze - preventing access / changes to family management

I have recently updated my IOS to 18.3 and since this time I have constant freezing when attempting to get into the ‘family’ section to manage my children’s options / times. Once I click on my child the screen again freezes and I cannot do anything, as such I have to close the settings page and then reopen it and try again. This freeze has never happened before (up until this update) and is driving me up the wall as it’s preventing me from being able to manage my children’s options.

please help / fix this bug

mine is doing the same as all you. The one way I have found to be able to access it is to go to Settings>Screentime>Family(click the member to edit) then from there it lets me access everything to adjust settings. But simply selecting my kid from the settings screen, it loads then freezes. Not backing out, selecting anything….Notta!

What was the last iOS version where the freeze issue wasn't there? Did it start after the iOS 18.3 update?

Therefore, this suggests that certain device settings need adjustment before attributing the issue to iOS.

It's not always the iOS update's fault!  Many things can cause phone problems.  If you tell people you think it's an iOS update, it might make it harder to fix or find a solution for the real issue.

Remember, the right question often leads to the solution!

Was/Is your device Jailbroken? If that's the situation, please be informed that attributing the issues to iOS updates may not be accurate.

iOS updates aim to enhance user experience, boost security, and fix bugs rather than disrupt core features. The majority of the issues after updates might stem from underlying, unmentioned factors. Updates won't typically alter personal data but may refine settings or features. Backup before major updates for safety. Review Apple's update details and backup advice for a smooth process.

Kindly consider checking your settings and addressing any device issues before attributing the issue to external factors. This could be a pure coincidence that the iOS update affected the iPhone functions.

Before initiating a standard iOS update, it's advisable to create a backup. Have you completed this step? If yes, proceed with the restoration from the backup.

Hello fireman. I too am have been experiencing similar symptoms when trying to enter screentime settings. My experience is that the settings app will lockup entirely for a period. I can go to other apps, but settings becomes frozen for like a minute.

I'm running iOS 18.2.1 however.

SravanKrA, your comment is appreciated but formatted unhelpful ly:

I can’t tell where one link ends and the next starts

The link is named for the problem, not the proposed solution, which people are asking about.

so the method of interacting with your comment from my phone is:

Try the top link, it describes a factory reset and back up. Not the first thing I’m gonna try, so I return to this thread, scroll ALL the way down, and try to click the next link. Hopefully it’s a different link.

rinse and repeat. This could just be a list of standard troubleshooting steps.

But I’ll flip the script: parental controls should be able to be controlled by a separate website/account and linked to my Apple account (and my Sony account, anu my Microsoft account, and my Google account, and my Steam account….) Apple doesn’t need to be reliant on in the in-house creation of an interface for this stuff because it’s all the same idea on every device. Make an API, let me manage from a central 3rd-party site.

The piecemeal BS of the whole industry w/respect to parental controls makes it less likely they get used in the first place.

This problem we’re all having begins and ends with Apple. It’s their making and theirs to fix.
