How to copy and paste a MIDI track in GarageBand?

Does anybody know how to take a single midi track, copy it, close out, GarageBand, open it back up, create a brand new track, and paste that midi track onto it?

inputting chord track from a midi region Has anyone figured out if there is a way to automatically input chord track progressions from a midi region with block chords. I know by setting internal midi in to a track and playing it back with midi in selected on the chord editor you can partially automate this but you have to keep hitting tab to advance to the next chord otherwise it just overwrites the current one. this is both time consuming and prone to error. Ideally (if you are listening, Apple) you could just play the midi region and it would place the chords automatically.

Export to MIDI After all these years, garage band editor won't offer an option to export songs with only MIDI as .mid... Why not? It's a powerful editing tool, but one cannot transfer their work to an external keyboard for performance. I've seen the 22 step process to trick it into saving one track at a time, and it's ridiculous. I can understand if I use audio loops, that they won't convert to MIDI, but if I'm using MIDI loops... THEY'RE MIDI! Please give us a "save as" option for MIDIfiles.

garage band merge of midi tracks Is it possible to merge two MIDI tracks into a single track, with the resulting track keeping all the notes from both tracks? I want a "merge" in the true sense of the word - a product that contains the contents of both tracks layered one upon the other. To be clear, I am not asking how to merge or Join regions within a single track; I am not asking how to overwrite one to the other, which thereby eliminates the notes of one in the process. My goal is to ultimately use the Score button to generate the musical notation for export that is the composite of the two MIDI tracks' notes in one piece of music. Using GB 10.4.8.

I am sure you tried it. I don't think the clipboard retains tracks after you close GB.

If you are opening a new file, it might better to just take the donor file, rename it and "save as", and then delete the stuff you don't want.
