How can I fix audio popping on Netflix on Apple TV?

lately Netflix has been almost unwatchable due to the audio popping. Only resolution I have is putting Apple TV audio format to stereo. I didn’t buy a $3000 ATMOS sound system to watch it in stereo!

Netflix on all other devices works fine. It’s been an issue apparently for a few years now from reading your forum.

FIX IT!

This is a user-to-user forum. You are not addressing Apple or Netflix here. No one here can fix such matters.

lately …
… issue apparently for a few years now
  1. It doesn’t happen for everyone, so apparently there is an (as-yet) undetermined setup reason why this might be happening to you.
  2. If it happened “lately” for you, then it could a different issue or cause from what others may have reported a few years ago. A symptom can one of have multiple causes, and a cause can have different symptoms per user.

If this is only happening for Netflix content, then it seems likely to be something for Netflix to fix. Only Netflix can change how the Netflix app behaves.

How to contact an app developer - Apple Support

Verify that your system software and app version are up-to-date for best support and performance. Also verify your audio system firmware for update availability. Fixes can only be distributed through software updates.

The Netflix app on the Apple TV box is created separately and differently from the app with the same name on other devices. Most likely different programmers worked on that, but all working for the same company. “It works elsewhere” doesn’t point to a device error or device system software bug per se. It’s theoretically possible, but not likely when confined to one app.

I would suggest to bring your issues to the developers that have the possibility to address this. We, your fellow users, can’t locate the cause of this issue nor make changes.

Hi

I have the exact same issue with an Apple TV 4K 128GB and a Samsung Q90R Soundbar. It happens only with Netflix and completely randomly during playing. It scare the **** out of everyone each time. Weirdly enough it only started when I switched from an 64GB Apple TV to the 128GB Version. I suspected the Wireless Connection as culprit (not for the AppleTV) but for the connection of the rear Speakers to the Soundbar. So I switched from 5GHz to 2.4GHz but it didnt Help. Isnt there a way to forward this issues to the Apple Developer Account of Netflix? Thanks!

Netflix on my TV works fine and on all other devices and gaming consoles. It only has the problem when using Netflix on Apple TV specifically. Changed all cables, updated all apps and devices and firmware.

it appears to me that an Apple update over the last year reintroduced the issue. Only stereo format resolved the issue.

using a Samsung q90r soundbar for several years now. All same setup, nothing in my setup changed
