Is Mac mini M4 24GB RAM 1TB SSD enough for 4K video editing?

Is this type of Mac mini m4 24GB RAM 1TB SSD enough to edit 4K footage from Sony a7SIII?

I mostly editing Multicam of 2 4k Cameras.

Which SSD drive for 4K video editing? I know the Mac Studio internal drive is super fast, but it used to be that editing on the system drive was not recommended. Is that still the case today with the Mac Studio internal SSD, or is it okay? For external drives, is editing 4K video via a USB-C external SSD (1050 MB/s) going to work fine, or do I need to go for Thunderbolt? I'm thinking as USB-C is so much faster than the RAID HD I used to have, it should be fine, but thought I would ask. Thanks

Macbook Pro specs for 4k video editing Good morning, I have been asked to source a computer (Macbook Pro) for a small film and media production company. The camera operator/photographer will be using Final Cut Pro and Adobe Photoshop. Their footage will be a mix of 1080HD and 4k and all storage will be on external drives, there will be very little on the computer itself. I have my own Macbook Pro M1 Max, 12-core CPU, 38-core GPU, 32GB unified memory and 2TB SSD storage, which works like a dream and flies through my 4k editing. The company does not want the top-range expense of my computer, but they do recognise the need for one that works very well to handle 4k footage. Because I only know mine, I'm not sure what to suggest for them, could anyone help with perhaps a step or two down from mine but still equally capable to run 4k and Final Cut (note: this is a film / photo editing computer only. It will not have much other software on it). MacbookPro: M2 Pro or M2 Max ? 16" - yes 32GB memory - yes 1TB SSD storage - I think enough, considering all media will be on external drives. CPU and GPU - options for 12CPU and 19 or 38 GPU I have this one option to get them a really good usable computer but I know they do have a budget, so have to get them the best for the bucks, without compromising on speed and efficiency running 4k editing. What Spec Macbook of Pro for Final Cut? Chip or RAM more important with new Macs? Hey All! I edit videos daily for my Youtube Channel. I currently have a 2015 3.1ghz dual core i7 with 16mb RAM. It is struggling with editing, especially 4K. Have been looking a the new MacBook Pros and wondering what spec I should go for and what to prioritise.. with the new unified memory and M1 Chips it seems the RAM figure is now less important? Essentially I mainly film in HD, 4 cameras in one go which I combine in a multicam clip.. this can take a while for the current laptop to process. But also would like to have 5-10 min intros which would be in 4K. I use it solely for editing, word and browsing.. So, Do I need to go for an M1 Max chip or would an M1 Pro do (if so which one?) and would I be ok with 16mb or do I need to go with 32? Basically whats the cheapest spec I can get away with? Thanks!!

Should be, if the computer is your source of income then get as much RAM as you can afford. If photography is your hobby then 24GB should be fine for most people. You can buy external storage for large photos libraries and the choice of a 1TB SSD internal is a good start.

The base model M4 mini and a 1TB external SSD will do all you need for photos and 4K editing!

This guy uses a Sony 7K and does Multicam 4K editing.
