If an iPhone has a Mobile Device Management (MDM) profile installed by a company, the Outlook app may prevent taking screenshots of emails. This restriction is typically enforced through Intune App Protection Policies or other MDM security settings.
How It Works:
- Companies use MDM to manage and secure corporate data on employee devices.
- If Outlook is managed through Microsoft Intune or another MDM solution, IT admins can enable a setting called "Block screen capture and copy-paste" for corporate emails.
- When enabled, users attempting to take a screenshot inside the Outlook app will receive a message like "Screenshot not allowed" or the screenshot will simply fail.
- This restriction applies only within the Outlook app—screenshots in other apps may still work unless a broader system-wide restriction is enforced.
How to Check if This Applies to You:
- Go to Settings > General > VPN & Device Management on your iPhone.
- If you see a corporate MDM profile, then your company manages certain security settings, including screenshot restrictions.

- Is this your corporate iPhone? Then please contact the system administrator of your corporate
- If it is your device, in that case, do you have any profile installed by your corporate/organization/enterprise/School Management?
- Erase the profile added by you If you have installed a profile on your own --> Install or remove configuration profiles on iPhone - Apple ...
- Please contact the system administrator of the organization who provided the profile to you
