Yes same problem but messages are more than 4 days old.
Its gotta be a bug in ios 18 because I am facing the same thing sort of. I manually delete texts and i have messages in icloud turned off and i know they still store on there even when messages is turned off in icloud. But I know it takes up to 4 days for texts to delete from the server end. And its not doing that. Thats why my icloud is increasing I think. Hopefully they fix it
If you only turned off imessage sync without deleting, then icloud would keep them. Turn sync back on then delete them if you want them gone.
iPhone, Settings, [tap your name], iCloud, see all, Messages on icloud, On, then delete manually in messages app
Did you mean iphone SE? There is no 6E.
1K is hardly anything, maybe a few messages, are you sure you meant 1K
Yes that's what I meant, SE.
Over 1000 messages are a lot when they are not deleting. Why is the cloud holding them when I have everything turned off?
Its an automated thing. I know I dont get it either
Did you manually delete them. Also make sure you manually delete them from recently deleted. Also if you go to setting>apps>messages>keep messages for 30 days this should help too
