I've downloaded ChatGPT apps but they charge a Subscription. I don't use 90% of the apps more than a couple of times a week, so it is not worth it (and even if I did use it often, I couldn't afford the cost of running them all). How do I use Apple Intelligence, and is there a free ChatGPT that is used in conjunction with AI?

When we sign into Apple Intelligence and turn on ChatGPT, we are offered a free account OR we can buy the premium account if we believe we'll be "power users." I won't use it often enough to pay for ChatGPT, so I chose the free option and it's been more than enough for me.
You seem confused as to whether you're even signed into Apple Intelligence?
Yes, a MacBook Air with M2 chip qualifies. But you also have to set the language and Siri language to an approved language, you can't be in the EU and your device can't have been manufactured for the China market or you can't be in a China market.

Apple Intelligence doesn’t require a subscription to use its integrated ChatGPT functionality.

Do you have n Apple Silicon Mac? If not, you can't. Apple Intelligence & Siri would be in System Settings if you do.
I'm not sure. I have a MacBook Air with an M2 chip. I've had it about 3 years.
