i am hoing to buy a japan model iphone 16 pro and i am living in india. As i was having a japan model 13 pro earlier, it is clear for me that it will work perfectly in India. But now i am going for New zealand for my studies and i am going to buy a japan model 16 pro, i need to know whether it will work perfectly in New zealand as well.

not sure if it's still the case but some time ago it was known that all phones in japan were sim locked and non of their carriers would ever sim unlock phones for users to use with other carriers, if this is still the case it would be ill advised for you to do so.
iPhones are sold region specific, meaning if you purchased an iPhone intended for sale in Japan, you will face different features, warranty support issues, etc.
For example, the shutter sound in the Camera App cannot be disabled for iPhones intended for sale in Japan.
AppleCare+ and Warranty only apply to your region of purchase, so you will have to go back to Japan for service.
That’s why you should always purchase your Apple products where you reside. So why would you want to do this in the first place?
