I also received a paper check from Huntington national Bank.

Same! I'm going to try to cash it today at the bank.

Did they put the correct name on the check? My bank will not allow me to cash because the wrong name is on the check. It is worthless to me.

Yes, we know the case is legitimate, what we’re all concerned about is the “check” email! Look into what financial institutions like Experian say about providing your bank account number and routing info. Not providing your PIN isn’t going to help you….

You of course don't give that info to just anyone. Only provide it, in a case like this, where you know the handlers are using it only for the purpose of depositing your funds.

Again, this a common way of transferring such settlement proceeds. It's been done for decades.

As far as the check? Haven't seen one, but it may be there as a choice for the recipient to deposit the proceeds themselves rather than supplying the bank info. How they would then prevent you from doing both, I don't know.

That's not exactly the case here. You aren't blindly sending such information as a reply. The email, as shown in the initial post, includes a link that takes you to the Select Payment page.

I got the same type of email for the previous lawsuit. The link took the user to this page.

Once there, you clicked the link (now expired) to submit your claim form online. And yes, it asked for a bank routing and account number.

Still, only after investing it for possible fraud did I fill anything out. By the time a $96 payment (or whatever the actual amount was) appeared in our bank account months later, I had completely forgotten about it.

Yes the case is legit. An email soliciting banking information is not. That email could have come from any of thousands of scammers. Now that people are posting that the email is legit, expect to receive many more emails (from scammers) soliciting banking information.

What I really would have liked to check is the phone number that has already been truncated by the hosts.

If you have the full number, do a Google search. Does it lead to a law firm, or does it go nowhere?

If it does go to the Angeion Group (the street address shown), then call and ask them to verify the email.

So I decided to just deposit it into my PayPa since I don’t really use PayPal. The settlement email said it would use checkbook to deliver the check. So I have fingers cross i didn’t just screw myself lol

they referred me to

also shows coming from who we got email from. I just requested so will see if it shows up in my account. I use one that has only $5 balance for special things

I can confirm it was legit for me. I had it instant transferred to my savings account and Capital One showed it immediately available. I quickly transferred to my checking just to be sure. Nothing they can take back now.

I got the same email but when I signed up for this class action (a year or so ago) I chose ach deposit to an account that is now closed.

Below the check image it says “if you wish to view the payment details or change your deposit destination, click here” but it’s a dead link.

Can someone please advise how to get a new payment link issued?

It’s legit. I got the same email and I clicked the link and provided the routing number on account number of an account that I don’t typically use so if it was a scam, it wouldn’t really affect me. And the $200 was deposited this morning so like two days after I got the email and provided my information.
