I purchased this phone through Walmart as an open box which came through a third party supplier and when I tried to run the SN for Apple Care it came up with 2007 which cannot be correct. Like a fool I didnt keep the packaging or remember if the box was an actual Iphone box so no SN info there.

At least the battery is genuine. Users often find that a non-genuine battery was installed in the refurbished phone, which means that Battery Health settings are not displayed at all.

Haha it wasnt worth the $50 discount.
Considering the phone was used.....probably the battery as well.....and no warranty, the phone should have sold for a minimum of $250-350 off.

Not possible to modify the serial number. The serial number info is correct. You purchased a refurbished phone.....not new....which has no warranty coverage through Apple.....but Walmart might have offered some kind of coverage.
No, you can't modify the serial number. But from past experience reading the same from others who bought such an iPhone, it is extremely likely you purchased a refurbished iPhone, which when you entered the serial number, it showed that date arbitrarily as the device has no warranty with Apple.
I guess that will teach me for buying anything open box or refurb from Walmart or from what I read Best Buy does the same thing. Wish I would have seen this date before the two months was up for a return. At least the phone works after reloading the OS twice.
When I checked the battery info it seemed to be correct for purchase date and number of charges which shows me that it was new but in Canada the discounts for iphones is minimal when buying new and your doing well to get $100 discount.
