I took a hearing test which showed loss of sensitivity at higher frequencies. When I turn Media Assist on, the music quality actually *worsens*, as I lose even *more* at the higher frequencies!
Has anyone else experienced this phenomenon? I have verified I have the latest OS and firmware, and have rebooted my iPhone and reset the AirPods to factory settings. Nothing works.

You should let Apple know directly about this problem by using the Feedback link. Since Apple can not be reached by posting here, this is the only way to make them aware of such issues.
I haven't had this issue with music, but I almost always get stuttering (like digital distortion) every few words from the person on the other end of phone calls. I also think my voice seems distorted (as if volume is being clipped) on my voice.
Are you using the original iPhone SE? I'm on an 11 and wondering if this is specific to certain phones.

That was released within a year of iPhone 11. I'm wondering if this is a hardware issue or bug. I tried resetting...just seems worse now (probably meaning it just didn't have any corrective affect).
