Apple Books app no longer allows instant translate

I am currently learning Spanish and I used to read books and be able to instantly translate a sentence with the copy and “translate” button directly in the books app. It is no longer offered and I’m struggling having to copy and paste it into a 3rd party translation app. This is extremely annoying/time consuming and has me in search of another app to read books on. Any suggestions? Is Apple going to fix this or should I invest in a kindle?

Make sure you have the Line Guide turned off. To do that open the book you're reading, then tap the bottom-left corner of the page where you'll find the line guide toggle and background dimming options, and tap on Turn Off Line Guide. See if Translate is again available. If not, report back.
