Formatting an ebook via pages

I'm finding it very time consuming and dispiriting to format my small book of poetry via pages and iTunes Connect. It all looks perfect until I look at the preview where headings are all over the place and any formatting I've done seems abandoned.

Any tips welcome.

Apple Books only shows first page in each chapter I downloaded an epub on my Mac then copied it to Books on an iPad using he sync feature in the Finder. When I read the book on the iPad it only shows text on the first page. Going to the next page shows the dirt page off the next chapter. If I make the text smaller Books still shows a full page of text. The text is there, but Books will only show one page of it. It does the same on the Mac.

When creating an ePUB document using PAGES, I can't keep an image on the same page as the text I am using Pages to create an ePUB document. This is for an eBook to be self-published on Amazon Kindle. There is only one image in the whole book, and I cannot figure out how to "pin" it to the text. The image keeps showing up on its own page, and NOT above the appropriate text. It is for the "About the author" page. I want to include a single image above the line "About the author"... But there is a page with nothing more than the image sitting alone on a page, and the NEXT page has the line "About the author" with the text below. I cannot for the life of me figure out how it to get it to stay above the text! Please help! Mike Image shows how it looks in the Pages doc (below) How it looks on the ePUB doc (below)

Since your expectation of the ebook poetry formatting, actual Pages formatting, and the expected appearance of your ebook are unknown to us, it will be hard to offer tips other than what follows:
