iPhone 16 pro usb Headphones not playing music

I connect my USB headphones to my iPhone 16 pro and the headphones seem to not be recognized by the device. The music comes through the device speaker while I can adjust the volume using the headphones buttons. It doesn't make sense. I can also adjust the volume using the device buttons. However, the sound doesn't come out of the headphones. Can I make any settings to listen through the headphones?
