Volume control missing in iPhone remote app after update iOS 18.2.1

After the recent update to iOS 18.2.1 I can no longer control my Apple TV‘s volume using the iPhone remote app because there are no volume button icons that appear on the side anymore when using the remote app.

Now when pressing the up or down buttons it only shows the phones volume not the Apple TV volume. It’s been working fine for years but immediately after the update the buttons are gone. Please tell me this isn’t permanent!

Same issue here - after updating to iOS 18 the remote app cannot control volume on my Apple TV (neither TV hdmi volume nor AirPods connected to AppleTV).

Seems might be because of the AppleTV widget on swipe down. I can can control volume on the widget only after I first turn on AppleTV via the remote control app.

So basically have to use 2 apps to control my Apple TV now… a little bit of an annoyance for something that worked perfectly before the update.

The following is extracted form the Apple Article --> Set up the Apple TV Remote on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support (IN)

"When using the Apple TV Remote in Control Centre, you can use the volume up and down buttons on your iPhone or iPad to control the volume on your Apple TV if it is set up with a HomePod, soundbar or other AirPlay-compatible speakers.

If your Apple TV is not set up with a HomePod, soundbar or other AirPlay-compatible speakers, use the volume buttons on the remote that came with your television."

I tried to reset it too & it didn’t work. I also now noticed the fast forward & rewind buttons are no longer on the remote app either, but I can use those only when my phone is locked & it appears on my locked screen. Volume is still not available anywhere though.

Remote App was able to control AppleTV volume before iOS 18 update. Unfortunately the suggested steps do not help.
