My Epson 2850 scanner stopped connecting to my iMac

My Epson 2850 scanner stopped connecting to my Mac (Sonoma 14.6.1). Error message "Communications error: Check the connection". I've rebooted my router, deleted and reinstalled Epson software, restored default settings to Epson and then set-up wi-fi again. The Epson Network connection report says "Pass".

I deleted the scanner from Settings and added back. I was offered 2 options: Bonjour and Epson TCP. I added both.

No luck. Any suggestions?

1) Can you Print to the ET-2850..?

If so, open Image Capture and see if it recognizes the ET-2850 scanner.

see > Scan images in Image Capture on Mac - Apple Support

FWIW I never had to downloaded any drivers or software from Epson for my ET-2750.

see > About AirPrint - Apple Support

2) If your iMac is still running Sonoma..?

Then you may be missing the on-board support for the newer ET-2850 model

and you need to upgrade your iMac to the latest macOS 15.2 version of Sequoia.
