I hope this message finds you well. I would like to inquire about the possibility of enabling text highlighting with a right-click, instead of having to navigate through the formatting menu each time. This feature would greatly improve efficiency and user experience.

The Pages for Mac application has a feedback menu item on its application menu. That feedback goes directly to the Pages product team who may or most likely will not respond to you owing to the feedback volume.
When Apple introduced Pages v5 in Oct 2013, it dropped the non-contiguous text selection feature that was present in Pages '09. Despite years of users posting and sending feedback about restoring this functionality in later versions of Pages, it took Apple 8 years (Pages v14.0) to reintroduce non-contiguous text selection.

Why not create a new character style with the true Highlight color (not Highlight from the Insert menu) and apply that character style with F1 - F8 on selected text?

Thank you for your response. I understand that Pages and Word are designed with different philosophies, and I appreciate the simplicity Pages offers. However, adding a feature like text highlighting with a right-click could improve usability for many users without compromising Pages’ unique design.
This isn’t about replicating Word but about making Pages even more intuitive for those of us who rely on it daily. Feedback like this is meant to contribute to the app’s evolution. I hope Apple considers suggestions from its users as valuable input for future updates.

Thanks for your reply. It’s definitely a nice idea, but it doesn’t speed up my work. It would be useful, as it happens in Word, to be able to use the right mouse button to highlight. Enjoy
