Wake up alarm volume is very low on my iPhone?

Several years ago, after an update, the wake up alarm became very quiet, slowly increasing in volume, but never loud. I am hard of hearing and always used the loud, claxon style, alarm to wake me up before. That is no longer an option for the wake up alarm and now it is useless. The alarm seems to be working as intended, but I don't go to sleep with my hearing aids on and I like the way the phone automatically goes into quiet mode and wake mode, and tracks your sleep, but there needs to be a louder choice for the wake up alarm. Also, if wearing my watch to bed, my watch vibrates instead of my alarm going off. Also, useless. Any ideas??

A couple of things to check in the settings, which you may have already done:

  • go to Sounds & Haptics and make sure that the volume level for Ringtones and Alerts is turned well up.
  • go to Face ID & Passcode and turn off Attention Aware Feature, if it's on.

and of course try to find a strident sound for the alarm. I don't see Klaxon listed any longer, but there's probably something there that will come close to the same level.

Not sure if that will do anything useful for you, but worth trying.

Regards.
