Missing "Devices" Tab in iTunes (Windows)

I am using iTunes 12.13.4.4 in Windows 11. Usually, when I connect my iPod to my laptop, it automatically starts synchronizing, but that didn't happen just now. After both rebooting the laptop and re-starting the iPod, I noticed the "Settings" tab under "Preferences" is missing in iTunes. The laptop does recognize my iPod when connected and the usual "Eject before disconnecting" message still appears in the iPod display. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes, but no difference. I have the same version on my other computers and the "settings" tab still appears there. I last connected it to my laptop a few short weeks ago and it worked. To the best of my knowledge, no changes have been made to my laptop since then.

Thank you in advance for any ideas/suggestions, etc. :)

I do not have any sub-folders named "Apple\..." in either of the locations listed in Step #9. I did find a few instances of the file "usbaapl64.inf" in the following locations:

  1. Program Files\iPod]Drivers
  2. Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\usbaapl64.inf_amd64_coe4d8c2aef471b7

Both files are the same size and have the same date (2/23/21). Should I choose one of these? If so, does it matter which one? Or should I not and do something else?

Thank you.

Hi Turingtest2. Thank you for your response.

I tried following the steps outlined in the article you directed me to. There was no "Apple Mobile Device USB Driver" option under "USB Controllers", but there was an option called "USB Mass Storage Device". The iPod also appeared by its name under "Other Devices". In each instance, I tried updating the drivers, but it told me I already had the latest driver installed, so I didn't proceed past that. Any other suggestions?

Thank you in advance.
