Mac mini not retaining the video settings

I have a Mac mini with an Apple M1 chip. I use a vga switch to switch from the Mac mini to a windows 11 computer. When I switch from the win computer to the Mac mini the resolution changes. The monitor is a ViewSonic

It worked fine with my M1 Macbook Air until I upgraded to Ventura. Now, my computer will only allow me to have the monitor at a max resolution of 1920x1080. Mac Mini M2 available resolutions on identical monitors are different I have a new Mac Mini M2, connected to (2) Dell S2722QC monitors, both to USB-C on the Mini. Yet the available resolutions are different. The list of resolutions is identical, except on the first ("Main display") - there is an additional resolution available of 3008x1692. I happen to like this resolution, but when I click on the 2nd monitor (extended display), that resolution disappears and I'm either at 2560x1440 or 3840x2160. Only the one resolution is missing. This is the case even when I enable "show all resolutions". Have no idea why this might be. Thanks for any input.

Problem connecting monitor to Mac Mini I connected the computer and monitor with an HDMI canble, but only get a screen with alternating computer and mouse images. Some actual instructions would have been nice.

The setting are lost when switched like that.

By-pass/toss the switch and connect the display directly to the Mac mini.

If the ViewSonic has VGA and DVI or VGA and HDMI inputs?

Connect the PC to one and the Mac mini to the other, then switch inputs using the monitors on-screen menu.
