Logic 8 projects not opening in Logic 11

Hello All, recently upgraded from my ancient Snow Leopard set up running Logic Pro 8 to a Mac mini M2 with Logic 11. I saved all my project files, including every type of folder, and made sure to delete any 3rd party waves plugins I’m not carrying over to my new system. When I attempt to open a file one of two things happens: I get a prompt to save a new version of the file for Logic 11 with the all the associated file types, it creates and empty file (0 bytes) and then freezes Logic if I attempt to open it directly. I’ve also tried the import method but it produces the same result. After reading about a possible solution involving creating a duplicate of a working session and then copying and pasting my LGDoc by viewing package contents, I discovered the file names do not correspond in any way to what is contained in the newer file system of the duplicate working project file. What should I do at this point? Whenever I researched or inquired about being able to do this I was told it was a non-issue, but at this point I’m wondering if I will just have to export files as waves and start over (would rather not.)

Mac mini, macOS 14.6
