I am canceling Apple Arcade since I cannot play any Sudoku game without constant intrusions with ads for other games.

Some quick research seems to Indicate that Apple can't stop the ads. Not only that, but it is my fault!

I tried one of their fixes, and one half hour later, I gave up. I am not proficient at such things, and can spend my time better than trying to fix Apples problems.

I play one other game, with no problems whatsoever. Why the mighty Apple cannot fix the Sudoko games, I do not know.

But I cancel Arcade since I pay to eliminate ads.

Apple Arcade does not contain any ads, the game you are playing is not part of Apple Arcade. Developers of games have many choices to monetize their apps as it does cost them money to develop and continue to update the apps as well as the yearly costs to provide the app in the App Store. One of the ways they do this is through ads and some apps will have an in-app purchase to eliminate the ads if you prefer that option. That is not the case for any of the games you see in Apple Arcade.

  • No ads.
  • No interruptions.
  • No in-app purchases.

Apple Arcade - Apple

Hopefully I can clear up some confusion about what Apple Arcade is. Apple does not make any games and Apple Arcade is simply a collection of about 150 games designed by other developers. You can view this collection in the App Store under the Arcade side bar. You can play any or all of these games for the subscription price of $6.99/month and in addition none of these games include ads, subscriptions, or any in-app purchases. After briefly looking through the many games there I did not see a Sudoku game, so if that is the only game you would be interested in, then Apple Arcade would not be for you and you did the right thing by cancelling the subscription.

As for other games available in the App Store, they are created by independent developers and you too can be one if you wish. These developers spend their own time and money to produce the games and also to continue to update them. They have many different ways they can recoup the expenses they have made in both time and money by:

  • Ads
  • In-App Purchase
  • Purchase price to download
  • Subscription
  • Free Trial that later becomes a subscription

You don't need to send Apple or me an invoice for any help in creating a product, you can do that yourself. After you have spent your time and money in making the game, then you can choose to distribute it any way you wish, just like the other developers do. Apple makes zero money off of any ads that developers use in their apps. They only make 15% off of any purchase that a user makes from an in-app purchase or subscription, if your revenue is less than $1 million dollars. You can even choose to not have any ads or purchases where no revenue will be generated, but as you can see, most people are not willing to do that, but that does not mean you can't.

Well, what Sudoku games does Apple Arcade have? After looking for quite a while, I cannot find any that are part of the Apple stable. Lots of pretenders, but I see none with the Apple brand.

Can you show me where the Sudoku games are in the Arcade?

And does Apple allow the interlopers leeway on the intrusions in their games to attract developers? Must everything have a price? Capitalism run amuck?

Should I send Apple and you both invoices for my time helping create a better product?
