How can we search for a text string in iPhone Contacts?

I’d like to able to type in part of a word and get results. Searching for “Alice” gives me all the alice. However, searching for “lice” gives me “no results”.

The text string search engine only gives results that start with that string. This is important if I am searching for someone (or something) in the iPhone Contacts and there is a possibility I have misspelled their name in the database.

Quite the Search String:

Type "Alice Smith" to find a contact by the name. Use different items in quotes to single this out much more. For example, type "Alice Smith" "Aunt" to find a contact by those continents.

Finding a Contact by Characters Via Search Stream;

Can’t seem to find any wildcard (i.e. asterisk *) that would work. As you enter items into the search stream, if goes by the first character you type.

So, Recommend this to Apple:

Hello,

Thank you for the update. However, I’m trying to find a way to search by a partial name. For example, if we search for “Alice Smith,” we can write part of the name like “mith” to retrieve data that contains “Alice Smith” or any other name that has “mith” in it.

So, the output could be something like: “Alice Smith” AND “Rachel Mithu”
