"Forcing" a sync of IOS 18x Photos to an iMAC

I am not an expert, but this problem of IOS iPhone photos taking a lot of time to transfer to my iMac M4, has vexed me say, when I have taken at 40 photographs for a Focus merge operation, went to my iPhoto Library, but would sit there and take forever to sync to my new iMac M4.

I think I have discovered that the iPhone needs to be plugged in and charging and directly connected to the iMac for the sync to speed up and at least start. At least this worked out for me...

iMac 24″, macOS 15.2

Great it worked for you!

If iCloud is enabled for the Photos app on both an iPhone and a Mac, your photos will sync seamlessly between the devices without needing a cable. When iCloud Photos is enabled, photos and videos are automatically uploaded to iCloud from both devices. This means your photos are stored safely in iCloud, allowing you to access them from any device that has iCloud Photos enabled, as long as you're signed into the same Apple ID.
