I have an old ipad (5th gen) I want to download whatsapp on it, but in app store I'm getting cannt download due to compatibility issue. On the whatsapp support they said they will support whatsapp on ios 12.* and new until May 2025 and the current iOS version on my ipad is 16.*
But I dont have the option to download whatsapp is there a way to fix it or download whatsapp by anyother mean?

It's not a matter of unsupported iPadOS version. Unfortunately, WhatsApp is only available on smartphones and its use on tablets is not yet officially supported.
You can still use WhatsApp Web via Safari. WhatsApp Web, in case you didn't know, is the online version of WhatsApp that allows you to use the service from any browser. If you connect to WhatsApp Web with your iPad and set Safari to display in desktop mode, you will be able to use WhatsApp on iPad (with some limits) without resorting to third-party applications and, above all, without having to unlock the tablet.

The WhatApp developers have not released an App compatible with iPad - the App being currently limited to iPhone.
