Samsung T7 SSD Issue

I am trying to move over about 15,000 images from my Mac to my Samsung T7 SSD Drive. I have moved over about 8,000 images, and they all show the preview thumbnail. The last couple of thousand I have moved over are now just showing an icon saying JPG with the photo number underneath it (no preview thumbnail anymore). I am moving these over at a clip of about 400 per move, so I am not trying to move these all at once. Anyone have an idea why they came over correctly earlier, but now won’t show a preview thumbnail for me? I am not the most advanced guy when it comes to this stuff, but this was going just fine until it stopped working correctly. I’d like them to show the preview thumbnail for me. This is a Mac desktop from 2015…Thanks for any advice you can offer.

To be honest it would have been far easier to have used the Photo's app that is pre-installed on your Mac. This creates a library of all of your photos which is 1 file. Then you could have moved the library over to the external drive and tell the Photo's app where the library was. FAR FAR FAR easier than the method you are using. You can still do it if you simply put all the photos in 1 folder, then open Photos, tell the app to import, navigate to the folder where the all the pictures are, type Command + A (select all) and then import. Once imported, then move the library to the SSD. Dead fast, dead simple and not living in 1999 anymore!
