Logic Pro 11. Midi notes not stopping.

I have a string track that won't stop holding the last notes in the region. i.e. the last chord continues holding right through the next region until I either manually stop the entire track or it cycles and restarts from the beginning of the track. It's a Midi note problem I think. How do I ensure notes recognise Midi note values including length?

Midi notes are now DOUBLING in 10.8 update I've tried several of my controllers.. but every time I play notes into logic, every single note is doubled. also while recording.. every single note displays as if it's sustained. this within the first 5 minutes of updating and going to make a new track. MAJOR BUGS in the midi department.. hoping nothing else is wrong. Also, I have disappareaing regions. I'll record, and then the region vanishes when I hit stop. Literally press record, play, press stop... gone. In addition, when I go to click in notes, the window UNSELECTS the region randomly. I have been using Logic for 10+ years and every update, it seems they fix 99 things and break 100. It's pretty clear the developers and coders don't use the program, so I think you guys should take the beta testing more serious.. someone had to mention the fact that music is vanishing and notes are being added. Literally the most basic function of a recording program is to record accurately, and this is doing the opposite. please fix this.. like tonight.. Midi tracks orchestral samples delay Can you me find the solution to this issue using LogicPro when composing? I use orchestral MIDI samples, and there's a slight delay so all the MIDI tracks are slighty out of sync. I've tried fixing it with the Track delay feature and decreasing it but it's still a hassle because I have many tracks and just listening by ear with the metronome and decreasing the values is not perfect. Is there another way to solve this issue and have all my tracks perfectly in sync? Would something like bouncing all my tracks help me or is there a better solution? I've been looking for ages, and all I see are the same tips about the track delay...

First MIDI note in regions mysteriously vanish while doing operations in other regions/tracks This has been going on for years through my many upgrades of both the Logic and System software. While working with MIDI, there is an annoying random disappearance of the first notes in MIDI regions. The deletions are discovered after working elsewhere in the sequences. This has been reported by others over the years. Right now I'm doing a big project and it's driving me nuts. Those notes need to be individually re-entered (after figuring out what they were in some cases.) As I said, the error is random and hence not repeatable. The only consistent thing about these occurrences is that those notes are at the very start of the regions. They are all quantized, so there's no need to make that suggestion to me. They should not be "hanging over". One possible workaround is to manually stretch the heads of all regions to the left of the first note. That may prevent the deletions. But that can be time consuming & messy work, especially if regions need to be head on for attaching. Also one must remember to do this procedurally each and every time a region recording is initiated. This seems to definitely be a bug with the software - you record MIDI, quantize, go work on something else in the file, come back and poof - 1st note in that region is GONE. Very frustrating. Any answers yet?

Thanks Eddie. My Automation is set to Track (only) and Volume as below.

I switched on Region Automation and it's set to 'Note Velocity' (see image below). I haven't ever used Sustain automation. However, a work around solution was to edit the last notes in each region (in piano scroll mode) by deleting each note then creating a note in its place. Worked fine, but it doesn't tell me why it's occurring in the first place so I'm none the wiser. It could be that my sustain pedalling as a I record is a bit suss ;-)). I have one other piece where the same issue is occurring on a couple of tracks (at least I know how to do the workaround but it's not exactly fast / elegant).

Hi,

Can you check to see if your Region Automation data to see if "Sustain" automation is off. Example below:

Hi Eddie. Two screenshots below. The first one is how my automation was set for Sustain. Which looks to be ON.

I've then switched it OFF. Is this what you meant?
