Password won't work on new M4 Mac Mini

I recently upgraded to the newest M4 Mac Mini. For the first couple of days after installation my startup login password worked fine. On the third day it would not recognize the password. Tried everything to get the machine to recognize the password. Ultimately I erased the entire computer hard drive and re-migrated from my old iMac. That got we up and running just fine. A couple of days later I started up the Mac Mini and once again it would not recognize the startup password. After much cussing I leaned back in my desk chair and just stared at the computer screen. It was at that point that I noticed a little icon in the upper right corner of the screen. It was the Dvorak icon. So, without me asking it to do so the Mini Mac had switched the keyboard from US to Dvorak... which is why I couldn't get my password to work. So, moral of the story is that if you can't get your startup password to work be sure to look for the Dvorak icon in the upper right corner of the start screen.
