M2 iPad to a Thumbdrive using USB port?
I’ve got an M2 iPad (2024) & my wife is taking delivery of the brand new iPad mini, both have the USB port. Can I/we transfer files to a USB C Thumbdrive?

Yes you can. You can also use external SSDs but they will often require more power than the iPad can deliver on it's own so you'd need to use an externally powered USB-C hub when connecting.
A thumb drive should be fine without using a powered hub. See the following:
