The iPhone 8 Plus is no longer eligible for major iOS updates. iOS 16 is the end of the line. iOS 16.0 came out on September 12, 2022 – and the latest release, iOS 16.7.10, came out on August 7, 2024. So although iOS 16 is not getting any new features, it might still be in line to get bug fixes and security patches.

About iOS 16 Updates - Apple Support

As far as hardware repair service goes, Apple considers hardware "Vintage" if it was discontinued between.five and seven years ago; "Obsolete" if it was discontinued seven or more years ago. Once a product is "Obsolete", I don't believe that Apple offers any spare parts or repair service for it (with the possible exception of battery replacement service).

Apple will provide full support for any of their devices for five years after the device was last sold, which for an iPhone 8 Plus will be around April of 2025 (it was discontinued April 2020). After that, support will be dependent on availability of parts and in many cases will be up to the service center. An iPhone 8 Plus already is no longer supported for newer versions of iOS, iOS 16.x being the last version it can run, though Apple may provide security updates, at least for a while. No one here will know how long they will do so.

Regards.

We don't know but they already do not support iOS 16 anymore, at least in terms of major iOS improvements, and the 8 can't go any higher in terms of iOS. Rarely when an iOS is more than 1 behind the current iOS version (i.e., 18 is the current and 17 is one behind) there may be a security updatee out of the blue, but that only happens every couple of years in general.
