Apple Devices app for Windows: iPod support not installed

Background info

Apple Devices (downloaded from Microsoft Store)

iPod nano 7th generation

Windows 11 Home version 24H2

Lightning to USB-A cable

Problem description

The Apple Devices app opens fine.

My iPod shows up when I connect it to my PC, but the following message appears: "The software required for communicating with iPods is not installed. Would you like to download and install it now?".

When I click on "Download and install", nothing happens. It just says "iPod support not installed" in Apple Devices.

I have tried restarting my PC, and the disconnecting and reconnecting my iPod, but this doesn't help.

Any ideas?

I noticed about two weeks ago that the Apple Devices app for Windows no longer recognizes my iPod Nano. I don't get the screen that you are showing. I get nothing. I am on Windows 11. I uninstalled and reinstalled the Apple Devices app, checked the drivers on my computer, re-set my iPod, and I still can't get the app to recognize my iPod.
