Money was debited by Apple Media Services after cancelling subscription renewal

I cancelled subscription to Hindu epaper today after using it for a month, because my subscription ends tomorrow. And yet I get a message after hours of money being debited from my account through UPI mandate. If I cancel my subscription how can autopay feature on Google Pay still work?

I searched online for any solutions and it looks there is an option to request a refund but this transaction is not found when I check reportaproblem.apple.com. I can only see transaction done in the last month. This is absolutely mind-boggling. I need a refund because as per their instruction, I was supposed to cancel at least the day before the subscription renewal date which was today and which I did. If I got another month of Hindu epaper subscription it wouldn’t be so bad. Except there is no epaper subscription and I lost my money for nothing.

I hope someone can help me with this.
