Initating "touch ID" on magic keyboard

Cannot add fingerprints to Magic Keyboard. Instructions are to "double click" the power switch to lock the keyboard to the computer (Mac mini 2). Attempted numerous times to add fingerprints with no success.

We set up her fingerprints and they work for the first few days and then stop. There is no response for any of the registered fingers. We do the setup all over again and the same thing happens. Can't setup Touch ID with new M2 Mac Mini I am setting up my new M2 Mini. I am using an Apple Magic Keyboard with touch ID. The Mini won't let me put in my fingerprints. First problem was the Passwords and Touch ID button does not appear in the System Settings sidebar. A restart made it appear. Then it went away again. Seems like I can logout and back in or restart and that menu button comes back but as soon as I try to do anything with it, it goes away again. When it was there, it would just tell me that a password had been set for the computer and offered a "change" button. I changed it, but then when I tried to enter a fingerprint or even click any of the buttons to authorize fingerprint use in various places, it would just take me back to the "password has been set" page. Changing the password does nothing. When I got the page where you enter fingerprints, nothing works there. Any suggestions?

Touch ID with Magic Keyboard not working and Unable to add a new fingerprint Updated my 2021 iMac system to Ventura 13.3.1 last week and can no longer use Touch ID on the Magic Keyboard for my iMac. Cannot use any Touch ID functions to access passwords, use Apple Pay...a total loss of Touch ID functionality! Two Apple support articles ("Use Touch ID on Mac" and "If Touch ID isn't working on your Mac") have not resolved the problem. Any others with the same problem? Any solutions?

Please research the system requirements for the keyboard and see if your model year MM supports TouchID. You MUST have an Apple Silicon Mac!!!!!!!!!!!

An M2 Mac Mini should be included with fingerprint capability with an Apple Magic Keyboard. The Apple Support documentation to correct it not working does not work either.
