Questions about the new ‘Slideshow’ feature (photos/albums)

Hi everyone,

I have a few questions about the ‘slideshow’ option in photos (iPad, iPhone) -because some of its features seem to have changed after the last updates. So please could you help me with the following:

  1. Is there anyway to control the speed of the slideshow, or how quickly the slides/photos change?
  2. If the slideshow includes both photos and movies/videos, how can you choose to see the videos in their full length and original format? (When I tried it, the videos I selected for the slideshow were cut and edited, shown only for a brief couple of seconds or as still images)
  3. Can you select to watch only one photo per slide? (I mean not have the ‘memories’ look in some parts of the slideshow)
  4. Can you setup the way the photos are mixed and presented? For example, can you pick which photos will be grouped together? Or, can you exclude having photos shown/put together?
  5. How do you choose the slideshow for the hidden folder (photos)?

Thank you

I have the same questions. Apple has a good guide on the subject but it seem inacurate.

Let's talk about duration (speed at witch the picture changes). The guide for Mac os Sonoma say:

This seem to work for some of my memories but not not all. I am still trying to find a pattern. For memories that I create (by selecting pictures) it does not work. For the ones generated by Apple it work for some of them but not all.

One that work:

A personalised memory (does not work)

It is the same on my Ipad.

Just found that on a Mac you can create a slideshow that is not a memory.

Create a slideshow project

There is a lot more control and you can adjust duration.

The resulting slideshow does not appear in memories but in a new "Projets" category.

You can export the slideshow as a movie.

So far I have not found the same thing on the Iphone or Ipad but the exported file can be played on those.

It is far from perfect because it generate a separate file.

I would have prefered rich slideshow feature in the Photo app that work on all Apple devices.

Sadly I side with Bobby on that. Apple has spoiled memories. I could understand that they want to make memories as something my Grandma can easily manage but could they not have kept a separate slideshow option with a lot more control?

Unfortunately it seems that Apple is working on spoiling the whole Slideshow/Memory feature.

I remember days, when own mp3 files could be used and the duration and sequence of a movie within the memories could be changed.

Nowadays Apple Music is kind of obligatory, Memories can not be shared because soundtracks can not be shared.

Speed has been increased, so best to consume some cocaine to keep track with the slideshow.

May be this fits silly selphies and crab stuff where 2 seconds of time is plenty to take them in, but for landscape and good shots 3-4 seconds would be appropriate.

In September 2024 duration of my Namibia Memory (about 450 pics) was more than 20 minutes. Now it is about 15 minutes. Same Memory, same pictures.

For me, this way, Memories feature has been spoiled to frustration.
