iPad Quack tone removal and security update

Theres no longer the choice for a quack tone my new iPad 10 gen anymore. I declined to do the update it removes a sound effect I enjoy. Apples making me choose between security update or eliminating a feature I enjoyed for over a decade. Is there a way to keep the quack and gain the security? I’m not finding any clear answers to this. I still have an iPhone 8 but I’m missing my old iPad already.

If any given tone (or any feature, for that matter) was removed in any update to iPadOS, then other than looking for a third-party tone, no. To me, security updates are more important than a tone I liked, but you can of course decide for yourself.

Regards.

Duck is available as a ringtone in iOS 18, but not as an alert tone.

The ability to use Duck as an alert tone was removed back around iOS 17. (Maybe removed earlier than that, given your footer shows iPadOS 16?)

However…

There are many sound effects available around the ’net.

I see pages and pages of duck noises available, too.

Search for Duck Quack MP3 or such.

Got a particular sound, or riff from a song, or sting, or duck, you really like:

There are lots of ringtones and ringtone apps (mostly with IAP) available in the app store, as well.

I’ve been using MP3-based ringtones and alert sounds based on sound effects from classic science fiction TV series for quite some time. The foley artists did a quite good job with creating those old sound effects.

Locally, and given the choice between Duck and current security, Duck loses.
