Apple Intellegence and Facebook Ads and irrelevant posts

Hi,

I have no idea if the two issues are connected, but I am in the UK and installed 18.2 / 15.2 and set up AI on both my phone and iMac 24.

I have noticed that since I have done this, I am receiving a surge of sponsored and irrelevant posts, mostly consisting of Chinese posts and American advertising. I never saw such posts prior to the upgrade to MacOS/IOS. These posts now account for 90% of posts I receive.

Does anyone know if the two are related?

Facebook, to my knowledge has NOT integrated Apple Intelligence into their app, so it's not likely related at all. Apple has nothing to do with Facebook. Facebook gets the bulk of their revenue from forcing you to see ads however. And that again, has nothing to do with Apple or Apple Intelligence.

Hi, and thanks for your response.

I have to say that I thought it unlikely, but it is very odd that suddenly after installing AI, I am getting these weird ads and posts that I have not had since I have been on FB 10 years ago.

Anyway as you suggest probably coincidence - thanks for your response in any case

That is just Facebook doing what they do best to line their pockets. You do not pay for using their service, but the billions in revenue that they make come from you being sold as a product for your information. Each ad that you see increases how much money they are making off of you. While Apple Intelligence has no effect on the ads you see, they are targeting specific ads to you and monitoring how you react to each one. The information that is provided to them comes from your browsing history, posts you have liked, your friends and much more.

You're welcome. Facebook is pretty aggressive pushing ads at you.
