updated to 18.2, now podcast app is endlessly "Updating Library…"

I updated my iPhone SE to ios 18.2, and when I try to open the podcast app, all I get is a screen that says, "Updating Library…" I don't want to delete the app and reinstall it because I follow a couple dozen shows, and I'll lose the record of which episodes I've already listened to.

Played podcast episodes not being removed after update to 18.4 After updating IOS 18.4 the Apple Podcasts app is not removing played episodes. In Podcasts settings I have the "Remove Played Episodes" selected and this has always worked in the past. Since this update, I now have to manually remove played episodes
