FaceTime disconnecting water downloading iOS 18.1.2

Unable to FaceTime on my iPad gen 10, visual freezes after a few minutes & shows ‘connection unstable.’ Audio lasts a bit longer but the call eventually drops. Called Apple Support & went to the Genius Bar twice-even FT’d a friend so the tech could actually watch it happen. Removed & reinstalled FT & iMessage, reset network, ran a hardware diagnostic (showed good), tech totally wiped the iPad clean & still not fixed. Was told the only thing left was to send the device to their repair shop for more extensive testing…which is where it’s at as I type. Just wondering if anyone else is having this problem & was it ever resolved without a work-around.

I’ve had this same issue after buying new iPad generation 10 on iOS18.2. I can start FaceTime but after a few minutes the video drops indicating “connection is unstable” and audio will still work for a few more minutes before FaceTime just shuts down. I then have to use my old iPad generation 6 for FaceTime with no problems at all. I’ve done all the troubleshooting steps but the problem is not fixed. Any help would be appreciated.
