Changes with Siri upon the iOS 18 update

I recently updated my iPhone 13 from iOS 16.5.1 to iOS 18.2. Before the update, I would ask Siri if I had any messages, and if I did, she'd read them. And whenever I made calls using Siri, she would announce before the call is made that, e.g. "Calling George, mobile."

Now, after the update, those no longer happen. I am visually impaired, and I rely on Siri to do such tasks for me. Can anyone assist?

Go to Settings -> Siri -> Siri Responses. Make sure it is set to Prefer Spoken Responses.

Settings ➜ Siri ➜ Siri Responses ➜ Spoken Responses ➜ Prefer Spoken Responses and make sure it's selected.

I think iOS 18 now defaults it to Silent responses.
