Can’t send photos in iMessage iOS 18.2

I am not able to send photos in iMessage after last update. If I go into the photo, select it, then click on the forward button and select to send via messages, only the text I enter transmits and no photo. Is this path no longer supported? I am able to send a photo on an already opened message thread by clicking the plus sign and selecting photo - if this is the only way now, then the “forward” screen option should not show that “messages” are a viable option to select ( it still works correctly if you pick email or notes)

I am having the same issue. Ever since the latest update was 18.2 released, I am no longer able to click on a picture and then send it via text to someone on my contact list. Will there be a fix soon?

I have the same problem too but it’s more limited. I can send messages and photos normally—BUT I downloaded some photos onto the phone from my camera with Nikon Smartbridge and when I do original format 13.2MB files it doesn’t work. Both from message and add photo, or from photos and send to message. (Error while preparing to share, please try again later). I still CAN attach the photo to an iMessage directly from the Nikon SmartBridge app. So this is clearly limited to the native ios environment. I air dropped the full photo to my wife’s 18.1.1 with the “send to” function within Nikon app and she could imessage the photo normally. So this is definitely an 18.2 issue.

But get this — when I downgrade the photo (at the time of download from

camera) to 2MB it works in the native environment.
