Why is Apple Intelligence not available to me in Australia?

Apple Intelligence support for English (Australia) hasn't been released yet. Try setting the Language to either English (UK) or English (US):

• Settings > General > Language & Region > [Preferred Languages] Add Language - select English (UK) or English (US)

• Settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri > [Siri Requests] Language > select English (United Kingdom) or English (United States)

Making this settings change doesn't affect anything other than the display language (spelling and grammar).

Apple Intelligence is available in English (Australia), English (Canada), English (Ireland), English (New Zealand), English (South Africa), English (UK) and English (US) in most regions around the world.

You are indeed quite correct as to availability. I had missed that Australia had been included within the 18.2 release.

Perhaps trying with US or UK English remains something to try.

Update your iPhone:

Not certain about an update fixing this on Apple's end, but see if you need to update your iPhone. By comparison, New emojis are a new feature, but are only usable after installing an update that contains them.

• Using Cellular: Use an iPhone 12 or later, that is using 5G, in order to update over Cellular - User Tip

IMPORTANT: If you have an option to update, however, then be certain you backup your iPhone first. That way, you will have something to restore your iPhone from should anything go wrong with the update

There are two settings for language and the two must agree for Apple Intelligence will work on your iPhone. The message indicates that Apple Intelligence is expecting a version of English other than English (Australian).

One language setting is for Apple Intelligence: Settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri > Siri Requests > Language

The other is the language for the iPhone in general and can be found at Settings > General > Language and Region > Preferred Languages

Make a choice of the English version you want and set this for both.
