Apple TV 4K Audio after 18.2 IOS Update

Normally I do not allow IOS updates to automatically install. Give them time to work out the kinks.

Evening last my Apple 4K TV installed IOS 18.2

My system is extensive however the Apple TV is straightforward, HDMI into a Sony STRD 1080 Amplifier and Amplifier into Sony 70". Audio output to a 7.1 system is handled via the Sony Amp and I generally run in AFD mode dependent on programming or dolby.

The Sony Amplifier display input shows as Apple TV on its display.

I set that up long ago and it has never changed.

Until yesterday.

Turned on system and my Amplifier was giving a "no stream" notification from the Apple TV and set the audio to PCM.

After trying every setting I could to resolve the issues I did a complete factory reset on the Apple TV and reinstalled (it did so automatically) I had the same issue. "no stream" and PCM. I am unable to set the amplifier into any other audio output. All other 4K products work as they always have, PS, Blu-Ray, Xfinity and Xfinity Stream.

There is programming, apps all visible, audio but limited to PCM and a constant "no stream" display on the Amplifier.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I spoke to Apple support and the specialist (?) told me to rewire my home theater system. Run Apple TV directly into TV, had never heard of "no stream and to call Sony for help.

Thanks for that sound advice.

Happy Holidays too the Apple community.

Right, I would expect that response ASAP. Well I have tried everything I can possibly think of and am just going to wait on that reaction from Apple (Lol)

What I find odd is the amp says “no stream” however everything appears to be working properly. I tried switching from Ethernet ( my default ) to WiFi, changed to a different HDMI input plus changed to a different Cable just for grins.

Gremlins at the Holidays.

I had a problem yesterday where all my Sony amp sources (PS5 pro, Apple TV 4K, Mac mini M4, MacBook) where not working: no signal. I had to reset the Sony amp to factory and yes: redo all the settings of it (mostly settings most sources to HDMI enhance (4K) and redo a speakers calibration). That totally correct the problem, maybe caused by static electricity?? To reset the Sony amp to factory settings, I had to press the power button for 5 seconds.

Maybe try that if you have half an hour to lose… ps: I don’t know how you do reset to factory your specific Sony amp model though. Try to find it in your manual.

Me it’s the reverse: Before 18.2, I had to connect my relatively new Apple TV 4K (3gen) directly to the tv, otherwise, via my Sony DH790 AV amp, it only showed a flickering image. Now with tvOS 18.2, it work perfectly through the amp. 😃Furthermore now “Dolby Atmos” is shown on the Sony display when I use actual Atmos content on Netflix… As I have made the same thing as you: posting a bug report here, two months ago, there is hope for you too probably with the next tvOS. Use your tv HDMI while waiting for the fast reaction of Apple!😊
