What is the Warranty start date policy ?

Wondering if there is any stated policy around when the Warranty starts or comes into effect ? I am from India and had ordered a customized Mac Mini M4 via apple website (in India), which, I believe shipped from the US facilities on 5th Dec, but I received it only 12th Dec afternoon. However, I notice that the Warranty is valid until 5th Dec 2025, meaning that the start date is taken to be the day it shipped not the day customer (I) received it. Is that how it is supposed to be, or should I talk to someone to get it corrected ?
