Can I revert to the Mail App after the iOS 18.2 update
Just updated to 18.2. The Mail App is terrible. I just want it to be how it was, I don’t know, the entire time I’ve been in the iOS ecosystem. You know, like 10+ years.

I have the same question. I absolutely hate the mail update. Who ever thought that was a good idea must really hate humanity.
Also remove the categories 100%
Please give us the roll back options. This new version truly sucks and I am missing important stuff. It could really be the last straw with Apple. I need good communication constantly not the machine to decide what is important and I need to know the messages are there.
I have tried this but didn’t work and I have still have this issues. This update caused me to lose some important emails.also when I want to trash one email it deletes all related emails.

Turning off the “show contact photos” in the mail app settings really does work to get rid of the ginormous icons next to each and every email. Also figured out how to disable the automatic categorization that is now on by default and makes it impossible to find emails by simply scroll through the list chronologically.
I hate the new mail but found the systems, mail app, turn off contact photos work but I would really like it to be as before.
I don’t mind the contact photos(I don’t have any anyway so it’s just big stars.. but the list view fixed my complaint.. I’ve missed so many emails I’m going to be catching up for days. Bad move Apple
The new email format that came along with the latest IOS upgrade is AWFUL,
and selecting the “list” option doesn’t help much. Bring the former, more simple in every way, format back. This stinks!! Sometimes the better decision is just to leave it alone.
Thank you, rlynnb. What an asinine process to get back to what I had previously by default but thankfully there are people out there like you who know more than I and can help.
Click on the 3 dots in the app, select list view then go to the mail app in settings and turn off show contact photos. And it will be back to the way it was.
The following helped:
1) Change to List View (all inboxes)
2) Settings > Apps > Mail > Show Contact Photos / toggle off.
3) Settings > Notifications > Mail > Customise Notifications > change from "Unread Message in Primary" to "All Unread Messages"
Exactly! I am looking for specific emails that came in today and Apple is tucking them inside other email streams. I do not want conversation threads. I want my individual emails sorted by when they arrived. If I want to organize them differently or apply tags and labels, I do that within Gmail. I just want them to stop trying to fix things. I am perfectly capable of doing it myself. The worst part is that I figured out the settings, got it back to the way I wanted to view it, and they changed it again. Stay out of my email and just shoot the information through stop playing “I need to impress my boss by improving things”. No! No you don’t.
Thank you! Should have remained the default.
Thank you for reconfirming. This has been posted in the 8 pages of this thread many times, but apparently no one actually reads a thread that they are about to add to.
It is so awful, missed a couple of semi-important emails. Anyway, reversing is pretty simple (for once!). Now need to try and do the same with the new Amazon app which is even worse if you can believe that. Thanks for the tip.
I don’t understand why Apple changes things that work without at least having the option to leave it the way it’s been for the last decade. Who is this helping? Who looked at google or outlook’s janky set ups and went, yeah this is what the average iPhone user wants.
