Apple Intelligence updates limited to iPhone 15 and later

Why can’t some updates from Apple Intelligence include other models of iPhone. Why is it only restricted to iPhone 15 and later. I have to get Chat GPT from the App Store not from an update from Apple.

Because the other models do not have the hardware required to run Apple Intelligence.

You can still run the Chat GPT app on devices that support it. It is irrelevant whether your device can run App In or not.
