Pages-Duplicate- Saving Original and Duplicate as separate docs

I'm trying to figure out how to duplicate a six page Pages document and save both the original and the duplicate which I'll edit.

It seems that, in the word processing mode (very confusing that there are multiple modes) duplicates are made by selecting the first of the six pages (apparently, all six are in the same "section" -another confusing feature) and that selects all 6 pages.

Then, a duplicate can be made. But, how does one separate the original from the duplicate and have 2 separate documents, please?

Must Apple always figure out the most complicated way of achieving relatively simple results?

Thank you for your help.

You are free to use any word processor you choose if Pages is not up your needs.

You could also try saving the document, then right-click the fie and select “duplicate”.

Another avenue would be to submit feedback to Apple requesting such a feature.

Do you know specifically how to do this? Once a duplicate has been made of a Pages document, it now appears that the duplicate is added to the end of the original from which the duplicate is made. So, it becomes just another "section," an addendum of sorts. If that's not what is wanted but rather a new duplicate document of the original, how does one separate the duplicate from the original?

Thank you.
