Network sharing with PC

I'm trying to share 2 PC folders. One of them is accessible just through sharing from the PC, other does not.

When I navigate to Network, the folder shows up but is not mounted. After attempting to access I get "this operation can't be completed because the original item for <folder> can't be found"

When I select Connect to Server from Finder, I put in smb://<IP> and hit Connect. Under "select the volumes you want to mount" I select the folder, then it returns "there was a problem connecting to the server "<folder name". You do not have permission to access this server"

The two folders are on two different local drives. I checked the Sharing settings on both folders, they're identical. I don't get why the same process would work on one but not the other. Any advice?

Transferring a Folder:

Compress the folder, and then see if your can decompress it on your Mac. It would be a ZIP file, and that may make it transferable. Report back the results.
